Why We Like It
- A proprietary forging process adds strength in the hosel area, allowing for the use of a softer steel for optimal feel.
- Mass behind the hitting area reduces face flex for tour-like distance control.
- The venerable Tour V.T. sole design helps turn fat shots into acceptable hits.
- The 8-iron through gap wedge have deeper grooves spaced more closely together for Velcro-like grab on approach shots.
- Laser milling between each groove delivers additional bite.
- Top 5 in Performance, middle-handicaps.
- SPECS: 7-iron: 32 degrees; PW: 46 degrees

This is a club that makes you want to buy new clubs. It performed amazing. Every shot I hit, the ball did exactly what I was trying to get it to do. And it felt really good at impact.

Love it. I got probably the highest ball flight and launch angle from these and they were so easy to swing. The weight was not too heavy or light.

They seem a little harsher in feel in the hands. Even on a good strike there doesn't feel like there's a cushioning or dampening effect. Good swings are rewarded, however, and it's not hard to hit them straight.

Thomas

I love the looks. A lot more organic and rounded than a lot of the entries in this category. The forging in the back is a softer look. The flight was medium high and consistent. What happened for me was a little too much negative vibration and feedback that was not a pleasant sensation in the hands.

Wayne

When you hit it, the ball jumps off, even when it doesn't sound like it. You would think it would be a little firmer. It has a bevel on the bottom that helps when I hit down into the turf too steep. It gets the club to drive through the ball instead of just through the ground.

Kind of a retro look and the set flows together nicely. The head feels very heavy and the interaction with the ground is heavy, if that is something you like. I got more of a low ball flight with lots of roll.

It's a great, classic look with a little extra size to offer help. I think it's just beautiful in how it frames the ball. Performance is consistent, too. The most comfortable irons I've swung in a while and contact and distance were predictable in a variety of lies. It gave me a tight dispersion.

I like the sole design, which gives you the ability to hit knockdowns or open the face and get it up. They are great on different lies. They feel solid off the face but they aren't the hottest, just consistent in taking off the same every time.

RC

I didn't really care for the thickness of the topline, but I got over that when I saw the performance. It had great turf interaction and was very forgiving. Everything was relatively on line.

Very aesthetically neutral, a good-looking players iron. When I hit it well, I got a very nice medium-to-low flight coming from it, which was very controllable. I didn't have to do too much with it. I feel like you're gonna get what you expect out of it. And it's engineered to be forgiving.

Ricky

It's very rigid, even on the sweet spot. However, it was still moving the ball out there with a nice, piercing, mid trajectory.

Megan

It's so easy to hit. Very friendly. It's a really high launch and I didn't feel like I had to do anything in my swing. You could have this club for 10 years and it would look and perform well year after year.

Alan

Amazing! It's got this profile on it where the leading edge digs in but the club itself doesn't dig. That helps get some steam behind your shots. You can pop it off the face and squeeze some more yards, but also dial it way down.

Anand

The sole is almost like a wedge, and it definitely helps with way club glides through the turf. It helps you with launching the ball a little high. My ball speed was fast and the combination of a ball launching high with more speed translates to long distance.

Robert

I think the overall performance of these was very workable and easy to maneuver. I thought the mis-hits seemed to float in the air a little bit more than I expected.

They have a unique look, very geometric. They look sharp. They do a lot of thing well. It's the perfect set for someone who used to be good; a good player who's aging. It gives you a flash of the old stuff if you want it, but also more of a comfort blanket when you need it.

Matt

To me, it's the perfect top edge, not too thick, not too thin. It sets up to the eye. Strikes were on the firmer side. You know when you mis-hit one. When you hit it on the center of the face, you can feel that powerful sound. Overall, I love the way the club swings. I like the weight to it and I hit it well.

Kind of a traditional look with the thicker topline, but the softness of the club and the balance was most impressive. The sweet feel at impact gave the feeling that this is what I want in an iron. The shots were quality, too.

The hollow-body construction and a thinner, more flexible cupface (in which the face wraps around part of the sole and topline) on the 3- through 5-iron provide more ball speed and a higher launch to enhance distance.
The remaining irons have a 1025 forged-carbon-steel face insert designed for precision, accuracy and repeatability in the clubs where distance isn’t as crucial.
The company’s urethane microspheres within the body of the long irons control vibration, enhance feel and allow the face to flex for maximum distance.

The single-piece forged cavity-back is more compact than the P·770.
Cavities in the sole are milled out, allowing for tungsten (up to 11 grams) and a slug of lightweight metal-matrix composite to be inserted to lower the center of gravity.
The metal-matrix composite is one-fifth the density of the surrounding steel. This allows for more perimeter weighting and ultimately forgiveness.
