ONE-TRACK MIND: My life has been about turning pro since I was in seventh grade. I've had a logical progression. I played four years at Georgia Tech, then Q school, then the Web.com Tour to get here. All these steps made me better.—With E. Michael Johnson

NO HAT, NO PROBLEM
I quit playing baseball at 12 and was excited to stop wearing a hat. I don't like seeing the bill during my swing.

DRIVER
SPECS: Callaway GBB Epic, 10.5˚, Mitsubishi Diamana Blue 70 TX shaft, 45 inches, tipped one inch, D-4 swingweightI switched to this driver in early 2017. I tinkered with the loft, going as low as 9 degrees, but the 10.5 lets me hit the shots I want using my swing. I like to work the ball myself, not have the club do it.

DRIVING IRON
SPECS: Callaway Apex UT, 18˚, Nippon Modus 3 120TX shaft, 39.5 inches, D-3My 2- and 3-iron go similar distances but are used for different shots. I use the 2-iron off the tee, and it comes in hot from 250 yards. So I don't use my 3-wood too often.

IRONS
SPECS: Callaway Apex (3-iron), Nippon Modus 3 120TX shaft. Callaway Apex Pro 16 (4-iron through pitching wedge). Nippon Modus 3 120TX shaft. All D-3 swingweight, Golf Pride Tour Velvet 58 grips.These are the best irons I've ever had. I used to play a combo set with blade-like short irons, but these give me forgiveness with the control I need. It's a comforting look at address. They look like a blade, so they don't look as forgiving as they are.

WEDGES
SPECS: Callaway Mack Daddy Forged (53˚); Callaway Mack Daddy 2 (58˚, 62˚). True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 shaftsRoger Cleveland made these for me. The 62 I use only for specialty shots or from 40 to 80 yards. I can stop it without manipulating the face.

PUTTER
SPECS: Toulon Madison, 35 inches, 3.25 degrees loft. Lamkin Deep Etched gripThis went in the bag at the Wyndham. I'm working on my stroke and started fresh with the cleanest-looking putter I could find.

LEFT-HANDED COMPLEMENT
This left-handed 6-iron is for training. I use it at the end of practice. I try to stay strong and balanced on both sides to prevent injury. I've gotten pretty good hitting lefty and can now get it out there about 170 yards.

A RELIABLE BALL
My Callaway Chrome Soft X is always marked with a line and an "O" on the other side. I love its predictability. This ball goes my yardage every time.

CRIB SHEET
This card with my carry distances stays in my bag. It's been a useful reminder. Everyone thinks we should have it committed to memory, but it can be a handy backup.

OUT TO SEA
