OVERVIEW

Whether it’s the weather or just life getting in the way, sometimes you can’t get out to the course or the range. The good news is, there are ways to get better without leaving your house. In this video, Golf Digest Best Young Teacher Travis Fulton talks about how you can get ready for your next round with a series of warm-up exercises and swing drills. You can use this as a pre-round routine or a quick golf fix when time is tight.

DRILLS

Dynamic Warm-Up: The Windmill

  • Get down on all fours.
  • Swing your right arm to the side and above your head, pointing it toward the ceiling. Hold that position for a few seconds.
  • Switch to your left arm, and repeat both sides a few times.
  • Then, stand up and make the same movement, but this time add the lower body, turning your hips as you swing your arm.

Low-Point Control

  • Fold a towel once and place it on the floor, then set a ball about six inches forward of the towel.
  • Address the ball in the middle of your stance with your spine stacked so that your belt buckle and chin are in line.
  • Use a mirror so you can see your backswing. Swing the clubhead up and rotate the face so that the club’s toe points to the sky.
  • Coming down, turn your chest all the way through.
  • After some practice swings, hit some short chips, making sure your clubhead misses the towel and bottoms out after impact.
