“Skamania Lodge GC in Stevenson, Washington (about 45 minutes from downtown Portland, Oregon), is a real joy to play provided you are NOT a golfer who hits frequent, wildly left or right tee shots. The fairways at Skamania are narrow and bordered by dense forest. That said, this is one of the most beautiful and memorable public golf factilities in the Portland vicinity. Designed by Oregon PGA legend, Gene "Bunny Mason", this course features uphill, downhill, dogleg, short, long, and scenic golf holes with no two alike. Being so close to Portland in the majestic Columbia River Gorge, you will feel like you've been transported to the Canadian Rockies as you take in the beauty at Skamania. Holes offer strategy, finesse, water hazards and varying lengths which all add to the enjoyment of a round. The only housing you'll encounter near the course are a few "pole cabins" which are part of Lodge accomodations. After golf, the Skamania Lodge (on property) is a 4* facility with beautiful rooms (many with views) and fine dining. Nothing like a cool beverage on the patio overlooking the Columbia River after your round. Bring an extra sleeve or two of balls when you visit, and go home with memories of Pacific Northwest scenery and a unique golf experience managed by friendly and highly professional staff."
