“Shot options: Shot options are much better on the front, with 2/4/5/7 the standouts. A couple holes where a specific shot was required were not reasonable, spec 9/17. ; Hole by Hole comments:Hole #1: solid starting hole, not much options; Hole #2: layup has to be carefully placed, I think the entrance is too narrow to encourage risk taking, so somewhat limiting on options; Hole #3: not much in the way of options, requires a good solid long iron/hybrid in; Hole #4: blind 2nd shot makes it hard to think about getting close in 2, wish they could shave off some of the hill 180 yards out; Hole #5: good risk/reward, hitting driver over the cliff vs. laying up with hybrid, as getting on top of cliff gives much easier view into green. ; Hole #6: large green, need to hit in proper part to have a birdie putt or easy 2-putt, 3-putts are easy without proper placement; Hole #7: ; Hole #8: if can hit great drive, can have shot at this green. Consequences if you don't drive well aren't that high, so wouldn't make anyone think twice about driver. ; Hole #9: played it into the wind, and was entirely too hard for even me. Had to hit 3 hybrid into an extremely narrow green. I think this is better as a shorter hole where can get past corner. ; Hole #10: solid hole, but doesn't make you think much, unless pin in back where its tight; Hole #11: fairway a bit too wide to make this a good risk/reward off the tee, but has the bones to be that way; Hole #12: requires strong iron shot in; Hole #13: too much uphill to be reached by anyone but very longest player. Green has interesting tiers, need to hit precise iron to be on proper shelf. ; Hole #14: solid hole, requires strong iron, but no options here; Hole #15: blind tee shot, so first time playing, have no idea what to do. Not sure I would try to go for this one very often, so removes some options for most players; Hole #16: tee shot doesn’t make you think that much, could use better bunkers to increase tension. Green has good tiers, have to hit proper shot, esp if hidden behind bunker in front.; Hole #17: requires very good tee shot (from Black tees) to have much of a look, seems a bit too difficult for top amateurs. Could be a great hole with small changes; Hole #18: requires solid tee shot; : Challenge: plenty of challenge from water all over the place and tight trees in many places. I might judge the challenge on hole 17 to be too much and not fair. ; Layout variety: widely varied layout, even the holes within the housing development. Only nick might be par 3's have pairs that are almost same length. Par 4's are widely varied, with none of them anything like the others. ; Aesthetics: I think most people would find holes other than 10-13 to be a pleasurable ride through the trees and marshlands. But 4 holes driving between empty lots (would assume soon to be filled with vacation cabins) lessens it somewhat. ; Conditioning: Quite firm, but greens a bit immature to roll well yet. Would be good to see this in 2 years to see if they have settled in - I would guess they could be much better. ; Character: It’s a very good course for a resort course, but don't see this as a high character course, esp with holes 10-13 that require long cart rides to new holes built specifically to sell real estate; Fun: I use my wife as a good proxy for assessing fun, and surprisingly she liked it quite a bit. I thought it was quite enjoyable, other than the 10 min+ cart ride between 9-10 and 13-14 holes."
