Overview
Tucked just west of Highway 131 that you take from Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo is a little gem of a public course that you might not have heard about. But locals know the deal, just $30 on a weekend with a cart, is as good of a value as you'll find in the country for a quality, fun golf course.

“I love this course but it was beaten up and over watered which negatively impacted conditioning, aesthetics and shot options. This course has potential to crack the top 30 even in the golf rich mitten but they’ll have to dial in the water and cart traffic control. Green on 14 is too severe. The par 5’s are a lot of fun. Holes 9 and 15-18 are incredible."

“Tom of fun, walkable, some great holes along the ravines, the greens will hold your interest. Highly recommend, don’t let the affordability fool you into thinking this is a second rate course!"

“Delightful throwback type of course, with a single cut of grass throughout framed by light fescue and a dramatic ravine that comes into play on a number of holes. Great bang for buck factor, with some cool design concepts at a bargain basement price. A gem that is accessible for any budget...we need more courses like this in North America."

“Single row irrigation and single length grass for all playing surfaces except the green. Extremely playable while still challenging as there are substantial mounding around the greens and the internal green complexes are undulating. Good use of natural terrain and a ravine system run throughout the property adds to aesthetics and shot value as approaches need to be well struck to hold the green and there are a handful of false fronts. Approaches require anywhere from a wedge to long iron to approach greens and the greens are adjusted to receive different types of shots. From a public golf standpoint.... extremely walkable and affordable as this is the same architect as other public courses such as The Mines, Pilgrims Run, and Greywalls"

“Fantastic course! Value at its best. I love the one cut of grass height for everything but the greens. And one line of sprinklers which makes the fescue on the sides thinner and you are able to find a ball and play it. Ground is nice and firm and completely playable while watering on a budget. This is what more courses should emulate."

“Great course way out in the hinterland. Greens have lots of slope, but are mowed at a good pace. My only negative concerns the last 5 holes, which are really tough with several forced carries. Expect some penalty strokes."

“Diamond Springs combines unique course architecture with a great piece of property and a unique approach to conditioning. The course maintains one consistent mow height throughout which provides both a unique look and a quality playing experience. The course has great hole corridors and you often feel like you are the only ones on the golf course, the routing takes you over and around a fantastic ravine primarily on the back 9. The finishing stretch from 14-18 are fantastic. The greens are large and will keep you interested throughout the round. More golf courses should present this style architecture and approach to the game for the general public to easily access. The value here is absolutely phenomenal!"

“Well-designed and scenic course that is relatively vanilla until the final 5 holes, all of which utilize a huge ravine to great advantage. Playable for all levels, but enough challenge to keep better players engaged. Solid golf at a reasonable price."
