Overview
The Club at Olde Stone, just a little more than an hour outside Nashville, is a 2006 Arthur Hills design built among an upscale housing development, which also includes a quality golf academy, putting course and a par-3 course. After a challenging opening hole, the next six holes play down into a natural meadow—with some more rolling topography throughout the property creating some blind approach shots and strategic tee shots.

“Olde Stone. Located in Bowling Green, this Arthur Hills course is one of the best the state has to offer with zoysia fairways and bent grass greens built amidst the rolling hills of Western Kentucky. This links style course is long and challenging particularly if you miss the fairway with rough that leaves you with bird’s nest lies that will often add a stroke your score. The greens run fast and true on a course that has a very interesting layout with elevation changes and double fairways. The condition of the course is excellent and if you have the opportunity to play this private course, you won’t be disappointed although you may feel a bit beat up after the round. In addition, the par 3 course built in the last few years has a layout that rivals some of the best I’ve seen."

“The Club at Olde Stone occupies a diverse piece of land with the most of the front nine playing in a flat river valley and the back nine climbing to more hilly land. The start of the course is dramatic, distinctive and challenging. #1 is a big, mean par-4 that doglegs left and likely leaves a ball-above-your-feet, forced-carry-over rough approach to a perched green. #2 is a nice par-5 that plunges into the river valley. #3 is a beefy par-3 of 220+ yards from the back tees with a slightly domed green that might be too severe given the tee shot length. #4 is a stout par-4 with 17 fairway bunkers guarding a narrow fairway. The back nine was generally solid golf with nice undulating terrain, a few dunes-y holes, and interesting angles. #16 is a lovely par-3 bordered by a river on the left side."

“The course is along a small river with nine holes playing along the lower areas that are prone to flooding near the river and the other nine holes on the higher ground with a great deal of elevation change. The conditions of Old Stone are excellent. The use of slopes coupled with the green speed makes the shot options on the greens excellent. The holes themselves have a excellent design and variety. There are a good use of long demanding holes with short holes that require a great deal of strategy. The sixth hole is an excellent example of a short hole with strategy. The hole has a deep fairway bunker that must be avoided or challenged. Laying back leaves a short iron to a small green well guarded with bunkers on a plateau. If you try to get closer to the green, you are faced with a touchy short wedge that is a challenge. The par 3 holes are of different lengths and elevation change. The third hole is a long par 3 that requires a well struck hybrid or long iron while the medium length 16th is downhill with water on the left and interesting green elevation change. The par 5 holes are also excellent. "

“The first several holes make up a difficult start. #1 is a great bunkerless hole. I really liked the 6th through the 9th stretch with a short par 4, interesting par 5 with a tiny green, an almost redan like par 3 and a brutally difficult par 4 with a lightning fast green. The 16th is a very good par three down the hill. Elevation change stands out as a good thing about the course. Great day and ranks very close to Idle Hour and Valhalla for the title "best in KY.""

“This is a truly wonderful golf course. The Arthur Hills design is fun to play, but from the back tees it is as hard as you can handle. The zoysia fairways replaced the old bent grass fairways and has made this course very playable throughout the year even in the hot summer months. The greens have great contours that make putting difficult if you are in the wrong spot. The clubhouse is beautiful and the practice facilities offer all you need to work on your game."
