“The Fort golf course was built by Pete Dye on the site of a previous course. It has many of the characteristics one expects to find on a Dye course and as a resort course is readily accessible to the public. The routing is over terrain with numerous elevation changes that provide great variety in shot challenges. From the tips it is a challenge for scratch players, but can be enjoyable for all levels from the appropriate tees. Conditioning was the one flaw, fairways were very soft in spite of surrounding drought conditions, greens slow, and bunker maintenance seemed non-existent."

“A fun and interesting course, definitely worth a visit if you are in Indianapolis. Great Pete Dye greens with a lot of undulation, some good collection areas, and a good mix of short and long holes. No houses anywhere is a huge bonus."

“An interesting course with a unique backstory, with it arising from a military facility. Good variety of holes, and an amazing (for central Indiana) amalgam of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. Typical undulating Pete Dye greens, with some deception regarding lines of charm and how much you can bite off off doglegs. It was a fun round with a good variety of open links-type holes and standard parkland holes."

“Great routing and flow to the course. Elevation swings not normal for Indy. Conditioning discounted due to several bare bunkers and large areas of fairways either bare or out of control. Good variety of hole lengths and memorable par 3s. One of the better values in public golf Indianapolis"

“A park like setting with rolling terrain, good green complexes, and in good condition for a public course all for a reasonable green fee. Play it if you have a chance."

“A solid design making good use of dramatic topography for the region. The design variety certainly highlights the entertaining trip around grounds."

“Many Dye design elements very evident throughout the course. Different course for the Indy area in that there is some elevation movement and the Fort Ben Park forest frames many of the holes. Mostly straight away par 5's and par 4's and no holes are dog leg right so design variety suffers a bit. Gets a ton of play in the warmer months and conditioning is affected accordingly. Part of the Pete Dye Golf Trail, offers accommodations at old Military Barracks adjacent to club"

“This is a great course in Indianapolis. The layout is a fun place to play. The conditions are great and the holes that go through the trees are hard and interesting. This is a great public course that anyone visiting Indianapolis should take time to play."
