Overview
The new Richland Course at Reynold Lake Oconee is the final step in an evolution that’s been ongoing since 1997. That’s when the first two nines opened, designed by Tom Fazio and known as The National (the vast resort development was originally known as Reynolds Plantation and is the home of five other courses with a sixth under construction as of 2026). In 2000, Fazio added a third nine and The National played as a 27-hole course until 2025 when Fazio remodeled the Bluff nine and combined it with nine new holes. This is Richland. The new holes that play away from the lake (holes from the old Bluff nine do touch the water), move up and down through pines, as do all the Reynolds courses, but are more generous off the tee than is typical and are immensely pleasing to the eye, another Reynolds calling card.

“The new holes (not formerly from the National) are fantastic with broad views and fairways. Elevation changes make for challenging approaches and blind shots which adds to the resistance to scoring."

“This is a very enjoyable Fazio design. Excellent shot values on the par 5’s. Would enjoy playing this for the rest of my life."

“Richland at Reynolds Lake Oconee was a well conditioned club that felt as if you were playing two separate courses through out. It was obvious the new build was 6-14. Even with the separation they did a great job of the layout variety and continuity of the routing, but with the tree line change and amount of open space really felt like you came into two different courses throughout the round. The Challenge is present, but the greens are forgiving around the edges and with their speed. Still a very fun course to play with the options given on the approach shots."

“Really incredible finishing holes 15, 16, 17 and 18, saves the best for last. Large greens, easy to hit in regulation as fairways are large and wide, but not many straight putts. Need to be in right spot on greens to have a real look at the hole. Bunkers are in wonderful shape- consistent depth and clean. Greens coming in wonderfully."
