Overview
This upscale residential course wanders a lovely site in the dry, stony foothills in north San Diego County. The design is a contrast of sculpted architecture with smooth-edged, cape-and-bay style bunkering, reflection ponds and flowing fairway lines set against the property’s rugged ridges and canyons, with long views toward the Pacific off the highest points. The first nine circles through the development’s more compact residences while the second nine flares out into open country under the purview of large luxury estates. The club’s namesake bridges connect several holes that leap over valleys and the Escondido Creek ravine.

“A fun course with significant hills and fast and firm greens. A challenge to the average player."

“This is a very solid golf course that is in very good shape with fast and somewhat firm greens. The green contours can be used to spin balls towards the holes by skilled players but those same slopes make short side up and downs impossible as greens run away from amateur players. You are always better off below the hole here. The back nine has more scenic tee shots as you frequently cross hazards in the form of ditches and forced carries. There is significant use of hills for both uphill and downhill shots, especially off the tee. There are many houses around the course but they are set back outside the normal range of play."

“Dramatic but forced due to unwalkable routing."

“Very exclusive club in San Diego. Home of the Battle of the Bridges. One of the best clubhouses and communities in southern CA. The Trent Jones Jr. course design takes advantage of the canyons and views but isn't particularly challenging. However, the course is always in perfect condition and the service, staff and range are terrific."

“Aptly named with several bridges which connect the holes through the canyons. Solid Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design with nice variety of holes, great conditioning and beautiful aesthetics."

““A classic example of how the utilization of the golf cart has allowed course designers (R.T.J. Jr.) to create a golfing experience where it would otherwise be impossible. The course runs through rugged coastal terrain of hills and canyons, often requiring long rides between locations suitable to the placement of golf holes. Quite striking and beautiful.”"

“The back 9 is an entirely different beast with forced carries over hazards on multiple holes, coupled with tighter landing areas off the tee. The various elevation changes on the back 9 also present a variety of challenges as it relates to aim points and depth perception from tee boxes."

“Excellent service across all fronts with outstanding staffing (food quality pretty good but not on the same level with the other club amenities). Director of Golf Steve Wilson goes above and beyond to ensure the best experience possible. Massive Tuscan clubhouse is well appointed and offers an incredible backdrop to the 18th hole. The best range in the San Diego area (and the club uses Pro V1 balls). Unfortunately the golf course pretty much necessitates a cart given long distances from most greens to the next tee."

“One of the better "private club" experiences in Southern California - enthusiastic membership, home club of Phil Mickelson, etc. Fantastic clubhouse, top-notch friendly staff, very good course (but not really walkable) with a ton of elevation changes. Conditioning was immaculate. A high fun-factor throughout the entire round. If invited, jump at the opportunity."
