Winner's Bag: Danny Willett at the Masters

Danny Willett’s comeback victory at the Masters was the result of several things working well for him, including the Callaway XR16 driver (45.5 inches) that he first put in play in February. Willet won in his second start with the club at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Willett told Callaway, “I did a lot of testing with the driver over the winter and I didn't hit too many balls with it before it went straight in the bag. The new XR technology ... it did exactly what [Callaway] said it was going to do. It gave me a little more ball speed and helped me control my ball flight.”

Willett also had an addition to his bag this week—a Callaway XR16 5-wood. He put the 19-degree club in play at Augusta National after working with the club and finding it a solid option to achieve more height on long shots into the par 5s. As a result, Willett’s iron set had a 2- and 4- Apex UT utility iron as the 3-utility was removed to make room for the 5-wood.

For the putter Willett rolled in several big putts with An Odyssey Versa #1 Wide with a white/back/white contrasting head designed to assist alignment. The 35-inch club has a pistol grip with a double bend shaft with full offset.

Here’s a rundown of all Willett’s clubs at Augusta National.
