Will a PGA Tour wives reality show finally become a reality?

October 22, 2013

After more than two years of trying, Liz Estes, the wife of Bob Estes, has finally succeeded in getting that reality TV show about PGA Tour spouses off the ground. Well, there's a trailer at least.

Produced by the Back9Network, "Tour Wives" is being billed as "an all-new docu-soap following the glamorous and crazy lives of the first ladies of golf." Here's the preview:

From the trailer, it appears that Estes, Amy Sabbatini, Amy Campbell and Suzanne Haney are the main characters. Technically, Suzanne, the husband of Tiger Woods' former coach Hank Haney, isn't a tour wife and neither is Ms. Sabbatini, who has split with Rory. But no matter. One of the main parts of the preview is the gang going to her "Divorce Party." Fun!

Other clips include Estes trying on sparkly bustier, Campbell tying her son's shoes and Haney monitoring the construction of her and Hank's new house. Riveting stuff. Presumably using Bravo's "The Real Housewives" successful franchise as a model, the Back9Network could have something here. But an attractive cast can only get you so far.

The show is scheduled to come out in 2014. Then again, so is all of the TV programming for the Back9Network, a planned cable channel that was founded in 2010. In other words, if you've been anxiously awaiting a show about PGA Tour wives, don't get too excited just yet.
