Watch Tony Finau nearly ace a 332-yard par 4

April 15, 2016

Tony Finau put quite the exclamation point on his opening round at the RBC Heritage on Thursday, not only driving the par-4 ninth hole, but coming close to acing it. Check it out:

The powerful Finau couldn't quite pull off the second hole-in-one on a par 4 in PGA Tour history, but the gimme eagle gave Finau an first-round 67 at Harbour Town, putting him just one shot off the Day 1 lead.

Andrew Magee remains the only player to make a hole-in-one on a par 4 during a PGA Tour event, pulling off the trick on the 17th hole at the 2001 Phoenix Open. And what a trick it was, ricocheting his tee shot off Tom Byrum's foot (Byrum was on the green in the group ahead) and into the hole. Earlier this year, Ha Na Jang became the first player to record an albatross on a par 4 in LPGA Tour history.

It's already been a season of firsts for Finau. He met Tiger Woods for the first time in February, and he recently picked up his first PGA Tour win at the Puerto Rico Open.
