Watch Charley Hoffman get lucky breaks from Ernie Els' caddie, rocks at Congressional

We've all seen a friend or playing partner hit a wayward shot, only for a tree or bunker rake to kick their ball out to safety. Using another player's caddie as a bumper, however, is a new one.

But that's exactly what Charley Hoffman did in Round 1 of the Quicken Loans National. Hoffman found himself under a tree, and his recovery shot looked to be heading into deeper rough. Luckily for Hoffman, Ernie Els' caddie was standing in Hoffman's line, ricocheting the ball into greener pastures:

The providence didn't stop there for Hoffman. At Congressional's sixth hole, the 39-year-old's ball appeared to be headed to a watery grave, only to receive this fortuitous bounce from a set of rocks:

That, my friends, is good, clean living.
