John Daly belts out "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," collapsed lung seems to be doing just fine

September 02, 2015

There was plenty of pleasant surprise over John Daly returning to the golf course a day after being hospitalized for a collapsed lung. But how much do you really need your lungs for to play golf?

Now take singing, that's an activity where you really need your lungs. And JD hit the stage in Myrtle Beach -- with several members of Hootie and the Blowfish -- to wail a rendition of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" just three days after his medical scare. Thanks to former Golf Channel personality Win McMurry being on the scene and sharing this video:

Impressive pipes, JD. But "impromptu" is a bit strong, Win. If you're a fan of Daly's, you know that the classic Dylan tune is a staple in his repertoire. We still get chills thinking about that time he did a duet with Kenny G in Thailand. . .

Sadly, that video doesn't seem to exist anymore. You'll have to settle for this video of JD performing the song solo while wearing an American flag jacket instead:
