Valero: Barnes leads, Reed three strokes back

Ricky Barnes, seeking his first PGA Tour victory, took a two-shot lead at the Valero Texas Open following a third-round five-under par 67 at the AT&T Oaks Course of TPC San Antonio.

Barnes is at 11-under, one clear of Brendan Steele. Steele, the second-round leader and winner of the 2012 Valero Texas Open, shot an even-par 72 to remain at 10-under, and one shot off the lead.

Donald, who tied for second at the RBC Heritage last week, shot a four-under 68 and is nine-under through 54 holes. He is tied with Charley Hoffman, and two strokes off the lead.

"Very nice conditions, a light breeze, and then the greens are still soft," said Donald. "The early greens were putting nicely, and if you were playing well, you could create a lot of chances."

Patrick Reed, who was tied for fifth at the end of the second round, shot a two-under par 70 and is in sole possession of fifth place, three shots off the lead.

Billy Horschel, the 2014 FedEx Cup champion, shot a five-under 67 and is tied for sixth with Nick Taylor, Chad Collins, Padraig Harrington, Martin Piller and Jon Curran, all four off the lead.
