Former USGA president Judy Bell was named this year's recipient of the Bob Jones Award.

Bell, who in 1996 was the first female president elected in USGA history, played an instrumental role in cultivating and promoting youth and diversity programs in the game. Enshrined in the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001, Bell was also an extraordinary player, competing in the Curtis Cup for the United States.

Past Bob Jones Award winners include Jack Nicklaus, Babe Didrikson Zaharias and Arnold Palmer.

Bell will be officially honored at this year's U.S. Open, held at Oakmont Country Club.
