Update: New, scarier video of monster Florida gator surfaces

By now, there's a good chance you've seen the video of this gigantic gator:

This monstrous denizen who casually strolls through Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto, Fla. was believed to stretch to about 16 feet in length, and can flat out frighten someone out of playing golf in Florida.

Well, if you weren't having nightmares already, the folks at Politifact Florida travelled to Buffalo Creek to see the gator for themselves. Though they did not find him during their time out on the course, course manager Ken Powell supplied Politifact with another video of the beast. He also told them that the gator can usually be found around holes 3, 8 and 14. Check it out:

Yikes. To any of the conspiracy theorists claiming that this had to be two guys in a gator suit, yeah I'm pretty sure it's a Jurassic Park-sized gator. Who knows what this monster would have done to Chubbs Peterson? He definitely could have taken away more than a hand.

However, Politifact also checked in with Frank Mazzotti, a professor and investigator for "The Croc Docs" at the University of Florida. After watching the video, he surmised that the gator is probably 12 to 14 feet in length, and not record size.

Regardless, he's shaken any notions I've ever had of playing in Florida.
