Tiger Woods posts video of him hitting golf ball, says he's "progressing nicely"

February 24, 2016

Tiger Woods put all those rumors about his bad health to rest with two words on Wednesday: "Progressing Nicely." Oh, and one short video. Tiger Woods is back! To practicing, at least.

This is welcome news to Tiger fans who heard rumblings Woods' recovery from two off-season back surgeries was going so poorly he was having trouble walking and sitting up. A denial by his agent and a more positive update from two of his confidantes, Davis Love III and Notah Begay III, on Tuesday painted a more positive picture, but there's nothing like video of him smashing an iron for proof he's on the mend.

And Woods isn't just sheltered away in some dark place hitting balls. He also feels good enough to go out and hit the town. Well, go to his own restaurant. Fellow PGA Tour player and Nike pitch man Tony Finau shared this photo on Tuesday night:

And for those of you conspiracy theorists who think it's a Tiger body double or that it's an old video. . .

Steinberg also told Harig that Woods was hitting a 9-iron in the video and that this was his retort to Monday's false reports.

Woods is not in the field at this week's Honda Classic, played right down the road from his Jupiter, Fla., home. And there is still no timetable for his return to the PGA Tour -- Steinberg wouldn't go that far. But this video lends hope that there at least will be a return.
