This Rickie Fowler video proves Oakmont's greens are rolling at *ridiculous* speeds

June 12, 2016

Thousands of column inches have already been devoted to the speed of Oakmont Country Club's putting surfaces, but sometimes a 10-second video clip tells the story best of all.

Here's footage from Rickie Fowler's prolific Snapchat account which shows a downhill putt seemingly inching its way toward the hole, only to fly well past.

The well-traveled myth is that Oakmont actually slows down the greens for the Open from how the members play it, which, if true, means the club's unofficial motto is "You're still away." According the USGA's Mike Davis, the club will keep the speeds consistent with the last Open at Oakmont, when they rolled at between 14 and 14.5 on the Stimpmeter. The typical PGA Tour speed is between 10 and 11.

Have fun, guys!
