The competition for best golf shot of the year is over. Watch the winning entry

October 26, 2015

With all due respect to Jordan Spieth's 3-wood at Chambers Bay and Zach Johnson's long birdie putt at St. Andrews, we have a new leader in the clubhouse for golf shot of the year. And it comes from the amateur ranks.

Thanks to Bunkered Golf Magazine for sharing this video uploaded to the Facebook account of a one Andrew Little. It's unclear whether Little actually struck the shot. What's clear is that the shot in question came on the 16th hole at Leven Links in Fife, Scotland. And that it's AWESOME:

Of course, we've seen similar shots played a half hour up the road on St. Andrews' Road Hole through the years. Miguel Angel Jimenez's from the 2010 Open comes to mind:

What sets this shot apart is that the man in Monday's video has to contend with a water hazard in addition to a road and a stone wall. Also, his ball is tangled up in high grass and it's hanging a couple feet off the ground. Bravery, creativity and brilliant hand-eye coordination, this shot has it all. Well done.
