Television continues to serve Davis well

April 23, 2010

AVONDALE, La. -- The good will that Brian Davis generated on Sunday basically for calling a penalty on himself has given way to good golf for which television also gets an assist.

Davis said Friday that he received an inadvertent tip from CBS' Peter Kostis that has contributed to his stellar play here, including a round of six-under par 66 in the second round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Davis was tied for the lead when rain interrupted second-round play.

"I just haven't hit the ball great the last couple of days," Davis said. "It's funny, because last week my back was sore and my neck was sore. And Peter Kostis mentioned something about it, that I was standing on my left side, and that's what happens when I get a sore back and sore neck. So that was quite nice to redirect the brain to move off the ball a bit more."

He said his caddie informed him of Kostis' analysis on Wednesday. "My timing is not quite there, but I'm not stiff at all, so obviously, problem solved," Davis said.

Davis continues to be complimented by virtually he everyone he encounters this week in the aftermath of the penalty scenario that played out on national television on Sunday.
