The ballyhooed exhibition night game featuring Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler will not happen, the Detroit News is reporting.

McIlroy and Fowler were to be joined by Mark Wahlberg and Justin Timberlake at Detroit Golf Club for an under-the-lights event in June was canceled “when negotiations between the event’s sponsor, Quicken Loans, and the participants failed to reach a deal,” Lynn Henning of the News wrote.

“As was previously stated by our company, a golf event was under very preliminary consideration, however conversations never progressed to a stage where they warranted widespread speculation,” John Perich, public relations manager for Quicken Loans, said in an email response to Crain’s Detroit Business.
