Rory McIlroy winds up watching the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight . . . in the media center

Rory McIlroy's plan to attend Saturday's super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao didn't go as planned. First, McIlroy had the latest quarterfinal tee time at the WGC-Cadillac Match Play, and then opponent Paul Casey put up a great fight of his own.

McIlroy and Casey were all square through 21 holes when play was called to darkness, leaving Rory no time to fly from San Francisco to Las Vegas. Instead, McIlroy settled for watching the big bout in the media center at TPC Harding Park.

The World No. 1 didn't seem too upset about missing out on one of the year's most talked about sporting events.

By most accounts, McIlroy didn't miss much. Mayweather won an easy decision in a "Fight of the Century" that didn't live up to the hype. And at least his tickets didn't go to waste:
