Retired quarterback Peyton Manning has been invited to join the Augusta National Golf Club, according a report on an Augusta, Ga., radio station.

Austin Rhodes, host of an afternoon drive-time show on WGAC radio in Augusta, Tweeted as such last week:

Given Augusta National’s policy to not discuss club business, we aren't likely to know definitively unless Manning publicly acknowledges (or denies) it or he turns up at the Masters wearing a green jacket.

Two weeks ago, Manning was playing Augusta National, according to Colorado Springs Gazette columnist Woody Paige, who was in New Orleans watching football with Manning’s father Archie.

“Peyton’s at Augusta [National] playing golf,” Archie told Paige. “I think he’s really enjoying his retirement, but I know he misses the game.”

He also made news by shooting a 77 there in 2013, playing with John Elway and John Fox, the latter the Denver Broncos coach at the time.

Manning, who retired after leading the Broncos to a Super Bowl victory in February, would join other retired NFL players Lynn Swann and Pat Haden as Augusta National members.

Manning has memberships at Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, Colo., south of Denver, Cherry Hills Country Club in a Denver suburb, and the Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tenn., just north of Chattanooga.

His handicap index is 4.4.
