Pick up the pace, gentlemen

April 25, 2009

They were playing twosomes in the third round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on Saturday, yet the pace of play was abysmally slow, well over four hours, as was duly noted by Kraig Kann and Frank Nobilo on "Golf Central" on the Golf Channel Saturday afternoon.

They opened the show by discussing the pace, and indeed the final groups were still on the course as they came on the air at 6 p.m. (EDT), more than four hours after the final group of Jerry Kelly and Troy Matteson had teed off. They teed off at 1:56 and finished at 6:25, their round officially taking four hours, 29 minutes.
