Phil Mickelson requested that everyone do the "Blue Steel" look in a team photo and the result was awesome
Many questioned the selection of Phil Mickelson to this year's Presidents Cup squad. The 45-year-old hadn't won a tournament in more than two years and was No. 30 on the points list.
But even if Mickelson doesn't win a single point for the U.S. this week, he's already contributed in a big way.
Take Wednesday's team photos. Boring, right? Wrong. Not with Mickelson. At one point, Lefty requested everyone do the "Blue Steel" look from the Ben Stiller classic Zoolander and the result was awesome:
Look at how seriously Phil takes it! Look at how goofy Matt Kuchar looks! Look at Jim Furyk pretending to fall asleep! Look at Paulina Gretzky! Whoops, never mind. Paulina didn't exactly play along. Sorry, we got excited about her making her international team competition debut as a WAG.
Back to the photo. . . several guys don't seem to be playing along with the "Blue Steel" look, either. Perhaps, they're just stick-in-the-muds (At least, smile, Steve Stricker!). Or perhaps, they've never seen Zoolander. If that's the case, we know what team activity Phil should lead the guys in next.
