Peyton Manning participated in Pinehurst's interesting way of honoring Arnold Palmer

October 06, 2016

As Jaime Diaz so eloquently wrote after attending Arnold Palmer's memorial service on Tuesday, "In the most important ways, Arnold Palmer will never leave." The way The King played and lived will certainly have a lasting impact on all who came in contact or followed him closely. And of course, it will be impossible to forget about all Palmer did and accomplished any time we order a certain drink.

Pinehurst No. 2 seized upon that piece of Palmer pop culture to produce its own tribute to golf's greatest ambassador. As thousands were part of a touching send-off in Latrobe and millions watched on TV, the famed course set up a table on its first tee for golfers to make an Arnold Palmer in his memory. And Peyton Manning was one of those who partook.

Of course, the scene recalls the classic ESPN SportsCenter commercial in which Scott Van Pelt and the late Stuart Scott are mesmerized watching Palmer create his own concoction of his own name in the ESPN cafeteria:

This weekend, there's no debating what the most fitting beverage choice is on the course. So enjoy an Arnold Palmer -- and keep the great man in mind.
