Monster gator takes stroll through Florida golf course

Alligators on golf courses have become rather commonplace, but this sighting is far from normal. Last week, golfers at Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto, Fla., posted a video of the motherload of all gators, estimated to be 15 or 16 feet long.

Yeah, Happy Gilmore's not jumping in the water to get his ball back from THAT guy.

The video was captured by Charles Helms, one golfer who was on the course that day when he saw the goliath scurrying over the green and toward the lake.

"I was stunned and silent," said Helms to ABC Action News. "I didn’t know if we were being punked or something ... It was just laying down, resting, when it got up and started moving towards the big lake."

"He doesn't bother anybody and they don't bother him, he's like a mascot for the course," said course employee Wendy Schofield to 3 News. "People have heard that he is out here and that is all they want to see so they will bring spectators to ride so somebody can get a picture."

Regardless, Helms and company made this gator go viral, and simultaneously scared the pants off people who thought that Jurassic Park could never be real.
