Man, upset with slow play, stabs fellow golfer

August 22, 2016

We are all for speeding up play, but a Utah man crossed the line in trying to get things going on the golf course.

According to police officials, 61-year-old Lee Johnson and his wife were behind a foursome at Payson golf course Saturday night. The couple tried to play through but were denied by the group, reports KSL.com. A fight ensued, with club attendants breaking up the dispute.

Later in the round, Johnson and his wife again attempted to pass, and when they were repeatedly shut down, Johnson pulled a knife and stabbed one of the members. Another individual received cuts to his head while wrestling Johnson to the ground.

The victim went to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. Johnson was arrested and escorted to Utah County Jail.
