Johnnie-O taps founder and head designer of Peter Millar to help grow its sportswear brand

October 24, 2016

You know Johnnie-O as an established purveyor of "West Coast prep" in its casual sportswear and golf apparel. In an attempt to expand its business, the company is bringing on a new, high-level apparel executive to help them achieve it.

Still a growing golf-apparel brand, but with a devoted following, johnnie-O has brought on Chris Knott, who founded Peter Millar in 2001, to help johnnie-O expand its scope and offerings.

"We are ready to take the brand to the next level," said John O'Donnell, founder of johnnie-O, in a recent interview.

Knott brings great taste, experience and fashion know-how to the business. Before Peter Millar was acquired by the luxury goods company Compagnie Financiere Richemont in 2012, Knott helped establish the Raleigh, N.C.-based business into the world-class brand it is today.

Knott, who left the company in 2015, will have a strong impact on product development and merchandising, so you can expect to see the company grow in the coming years.

"[I feel] the brand really matches my lifestyle of relaxed, comfortable and stylish sportswear," Knott says.
