John Elway won two Super Bowls as quarterback for the Denver Broncos, and lead the franchise to a third championship this past season as executive. Now Elway has his eyes on a different trophy, this one from the world of golf.

The 55-year-old Elway has joined the field of the Colorado Senior Open, which tees off next week. Elway will join 155 entrants, both professional and amateur, at the event held at Green Valley Ranch in Denver.

This isn't Elway's first rodeo: He played in the 2014 tournament, finishing second in the amateur category and 19th overall. He owns a 0.8 handicap according to GHIN, although his scores have been all over the map:

Feel like that 69 is playing a tad more into his decision than that 100, don't you think?

Conversely, this is the same guy who orchestrated "The Drive." We sure aren't betting against him.
