Jack Nicklaus visits Montreal Canadiens locker room to deliver speech and announce starting lineup

November 09, 2016

We know Jack Nicklaus to be a big sports fan.

As a decorated student-athlete at Ohio State, Jack's love for the Buckeyes is well-known. And proving his diversity of sports that he enjoys, some of his biggest hobbies now are tennis and fishing.

You wouldn't necessarily pit the 18-time major champion as a big hockey guy. But the Golden Bear visited the Montreal Canadiens locker room on Wednesday night, and delivered a quick speech to the team before announcing the team's starting lineup in the Canadiens' match-up against the Boston Bruins. In fact, Jack admits he's not the biggest hockey expert, but shows he knows that his hometown Columbus Blue Jackets are struggling to date.

Some of the highlights of the speech include him comparing his preparation for a golf event and how it might apply to any other sport: "There's no excuse not to be properly prepared," and "always play within yourself."

Montreal edged Boston, 3-2, so perhaps Jack might be asked back as a good luck charm.

Pretty hilarious to hear Jack ask if he "screwed up any names." Well done, Jack.
