If you want to learn how to generate more power in your golf swing, start by watching your favorite Major League pitcher, says Golf Digest Teaching Professional Sean Foley. "What they do is use their body mass to generate more energy for the pitch," he says. "They do that by shifting their weight toward the batter before throwing." Foley talked about the similarity of a pitcher pushing off the rubber to generate some extra leverage to what you need to do in order to hit the ball farther. You can read his instruction advice here.

If you want to supplement Foley's golf-instruction advice with things you can do in the gym to improve this "push off" move, Golf Digest fitness advisor Ben Shear, says a very simple body-weight exercise will really help you create more power. Click on the video below to see him demonstrate it.
