Final round course set-up

July 10, 2011

COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. -- Even though players had just 30 minutes to recoup between their third and final rounds, maintenance crews worked feverishly to roll greens, change hole locations and move some tee markers.

As far as hole locations, it seems the USGA hasn't attempted to tuck flagsticks in impossible spots. (Cristie Kerr and So Yeon Ryu lead the field in putts per green, averaging 1.61.) But The Broadmoor East is playing 126 yards shorter this afternoon than it did this morning. The par-5 third is now reachable (it's playing 29 yards shorter), and the course's two easiest holes during the third round (the par-5 9th and par-4 11th) are now 47 and 34 yards longer, respectively.
