You shouldn't take Tiger Woods at the Wyndham Championship. . . right?

August 19, 2015

With the year's four major championships in the books, it's a bit of a sad time if you're a golf fan. But quit crying into your Masters towel. These are the times you should be especially glad you play fantasy golf. On tap this week is the PGA Tour season's final regular event before the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the Wyndham Championship, and Tiger Woods is playing for the first time. This is MAJOR. OK, so it doesn't have quite the same juice as the PGA Championship, but it's a nice bonus before our tour heroes head into battle for the biggest bonus in pro sports. Who am I expecting big performances from in Greensboro? Here's my PGA Tour Fantasy Golf lineup:

Justin Thomas: With seven top-10 finishes as a rookie, it's just a matter of time before Thomas breaks through with his first PGA Tour title. Plus, he leads all players in the field with an average of 241.7 points per week in this format, thanks in large part to his 96.1 driving average.

Bill Haas: This is a special event for the Wake Forest grad made even more special by his former college coach and uncle, Jerry Haas, being in the field this week. Haas also has three top 10s in his past six trips to Sedgefield Country Club, including a T-2 last year.

Brandt Snedeker: Sneds has four top 10s in this event, including a win down the road at Forest Oaks CC in 2007. He also has four top 10s -- plus a T-12 at Whistling Straits -- in the past three months.

Tiger Woods: Eh, what the heck, I'm feeling bold. TW's last two regular tour events haven't been that bad. And I can't go an entire season without using him, can I? OK, so I easily could, but let's live a little. Tiger will finish in the top 10 this week. I'm willing to bet anything* on it.
