Callaway extends MD3 wedge line with a lucky theme

Callaway’s most expansive wedge offering ever is adding a special St. Patrick’s Day-themed design. The MD3 Milled line, which features loft-specific groove designs, now will include a limited edition Shamrock model.

On the MD3 line, the milled grooves are designed to more easily transition from the short irons to the wedges. Because they are often used in hitting full shots, the lower-lofted wedges utilize grooves with less volume that are more similar to the grooves found typically in irons. In the middle wedge lofts, an intermediate volume groove is used because these wedges are often used in bunker shots and full swings. Finally, the most aggressive groove is used in the highest lofts because these clubs are played in short shots around the green and from the rough.

Each loft (50, 52, 54, 56, 58 and 60 degrees) will incorporate Callaway’s multi-purpose “S” grind, designed for all turf conditions and moderated to sweeping attack angles. The black finish is highlighted with green paint fills and a four-leaf clover laser etched in the back of the blade. It also will feature a custom True Temper Tour Issue Black Onyx steel shaft with a green Lamkin UTx grip.

Not coincidentally, the MD3 Milled Shamrock wedges will be in stores March 17 ($140).
