Cal: No. 1 with a bullseye

By Ryan Herrington

There is no truth to the rumor that by the time you stop reading this, the California men will have won another title.

The Golden Bears' winning ways (10 titles/12 starts) in 2012-13 will make this a year to remember regardless of their postseason showing. Of course, should they hold form and win an NCAA title, the number of memories will increase exponentially, not to mention the number of comparisons to the game's all-time great programs.

Here's a look at the Division I top 25 as we enter NCAA men's regionals week.

Like with the women's polls last week, here are some stats to digest as the final poll of the spring is released:

â¿¢ 16 schools were in the top 25 for all nine first-place votes.

Nova Southeastern, set to defend its NCAA title next week at Hershey (Pa.) CC, is the unanimous choice for the No. 1 ranking in the final spring Division II coaches' poll. The Sharks earned all 15 first-place votes after winning the South/Southeast Regional last week for their four win of the 2012-13 season. In 11 starts this year, the team has finish first or second 10 times.

Barry held on to the No. 2 spot in the ranking as it also secured a place at nationals last week. Florida Southern moved up to the No. 3 spot with CSU-Monterey Bay and Lynn rounding out the top five.

With the Division III, NAIA and NJCAA Division I schools all competing this week in their respective national championships, no new polls were conducted for these conferences. The lone remaining division with new poll results is the NJCAA D-II.
