Bubba Watson goes shirtless for some reason to promote his new sock deal

March 31, 2016

There's a scene from a Seinfeld episode in which Jerry is dating a model and she shows him an ad in which she's coming out of the shower covered only in a washcloth. "What's this an ad for?" he asks. She replies: "See those wrinkled jeans slung over the chair? Way in the background, out of focus?"

That's kind of the way we feel about the new ad campaign for Stance Socks that features Bubba Watson. It's tough to notice the socks when, well, see for yourself. . .

We'll say this for Bubba, he's not shy. And the #sweatervest hashtag is classic.

On Thursday, Stance announced the addition of Watson to its roster of Punks & Poets. You could make a case that Bubba bridges both categories with the rap verse he laid down as a guest artist last year. And this isn't the first time he's showed off his impressive(?) chest hair. Who could forget those Golf Boys videos?

Of course, there's more to the ad than the two-time Masters champ doing some manscaping. Here it is in full, depicting a young Watson getting hooked on golf, forgetting about his dreams of becoming an astronaut, and using a sock to wife BBQ sauce off his face.

"Mamma we made it!" Watson says at the end. Yes, you did, Bubba. Just not into space.
