GOLF WORLD ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER DREAM ASSIGNMENT CONTEST

April 01, 2010

NEW YORK—Golf World has announced the launch of its inaugural “Dream Assignment” contest, in which the magazine will search for America’s next great golf writer. Contest information can be found in the April 5 issue of Golf World and online at www.golfworld.com/go/dreamassignment.

Aspiring writers are invited to submit an 800–word story covering a professional golf tournament that has taken place during the month of April on any of the pro tours (PGA Tour, Champions Tour, LPGA Tour, Nationwide Tour). Entries will be evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges consisting of Geoff Russell, Golf World editor–in–chief; Bob Carney, creative director for the Golf Digest Group; John Marvel, Golf Digest Digital Managing Editor; and Jimmy Roberts, NBC Sports contributor.

The winner of the contest will be given the opportunity to attend this year’s British Open at legendary St. Andrews and experience life as a golf journalist inside the ropes. He or she will also write a column recapping the tournament, which may be featured in Golf World’s British Open Coverage Issue (July 26 – August 2 issue).

Individuals aged 18 or older can enter the contest and submit their stories online at www.golfworld.com/go/dreamassignment. Entries will be accepted from April 1 through April 30.
