GOLF DIGEST AND NBC SPORTS PRESENT THE 2010 EQUIPMENT SPECIAL

March 22, 2010

NEW YORK—NBC Sports and Golf Digest have teamed up again to present the 2010 Golf Digest Equipment Special, an insider’s look at the newest trends in golf technology and equipment. It airs Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET, prior to NBC’s final-round coverage of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The show is hosted by NBC Sports’ Brian Crowell and Dottie Pepper and features commentary by Golf Digest’s Equipment Editor Mike Johnson and Senior Articles Editor Stina Sternberg.

“This is an objective view of the golf equipment industry with the goal of helping the average golfer lower his or her score,” said Jon Miller, Executive Vice President, NBC Sports. “We are proud to continue our productive relationship with Golf Digest through this innovative program.”

The special aims to demystify golf equipment for the average golfer by gathering input from many of the leading industry manufacturers. From covering every club in the bag to offbeat accessories, the show’s content will educate viewers about new golf gear and gadgets. Among the manufacturers featured include TaylorMade, Adams Golf, Callaway, Cobra, Cleveland, Titleist, Ping, Nike and Bridgestone.

“In the 2010 Golf Digest Equipment Special, we take viewers through every club in the bag. We cover the latest technology in each category with research and development experts from leading equipment companies,” said Bob Carney, creative director of the Golf Digest Group. “In the end, golfers want the latest and greatest for one reason: lower scores. I think we demonstrate that this new equipment can get you there.”

The program is an opportunity for viewers to listen to the people who are actually designing the equipment they use to play the game. Commentators debate the merits of rangefinders and ambush unsuspecting souls at a golf course about their obsolete equipment. This year’s program also showcases accessories and offbeat items seen at the PGA Merchandise Show, and features a dedicated segment to women’s golf.
