NEW YORK, NY—The second Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the October 19 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now.
Oklahoma State remains the number one team in the poll, earning 21 of the 23 first–place votes. After a runner–up finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, the Cowboys won by a convincing 22–stroke margin at the Ping/Golfweek Invitational. Three OSU players, Pete Uihlein, Morgan Hoffmann and Trent Whitekiller, finished 1–2–3 individually at the event.
Rounding out the top–five are Arizona State (No. 2), who won at Olympia Fields and was third at the Ping event; Washington (No. 3), who was runner–up to OSU at the Ping event; Florida State (No. 4), who has two victories on the season, the most recent coming at the Gary Koch Invitational; and Stanford (No. 5).
Along with Florida State, Texas (No. 10) moved into the top–10, after being ranked No. 22 in the previous coaches’ poll.
SMU (No. 15), Michigan (No. 18), Oregon State (No. 21), North Florida (T–23) and Texas Tech (No. 25) moved into the top–25.
