NEW YORK, NY—The third Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the April 4 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now.
Alabama remains in the top spot, receiving 19 of 23 first–place votes. After winning three consecutive tournaments, the Crimson Tide finished third at last week’s U.S. Collegiate against one of the strongest fields of the spring. A victory by USC (No. 3) at the U.S. Collegiate was good enough to move the Trojans into the top–five. Rounding out the rest of the top–five are Georgia (No. 2), Charlotte (No. 4) and UCLA (No. 5).
Three new teams entered the top–25 poll. Texas A&M (No. 19) entered the poll for the first time this spring after winning the Barona Collegiate Cup in March; Central Florida (No. 24) won the Rio Pinar Invitational at the end of February; and Louisville (No. 25) won the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate last week.
