Golf World Announces Results of First Women’s College Coaches’ Poll of the Spring Season
Arizona State New Top Team in D-I Poll
NEW YORK, NY—The first Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II and III, can be viewed online now. The polls will also appear in the March 9 issue of Golf World.
Arizona State replaced UCLA (No. 2) as the number one team in the poll. Each team earned 13 first–place votes, however the Sun Devils received two more overall points (659–657). While the Bruins won the Arizona Wildcat Invitational last week, beating the Sun Devils by nine strokes, the Sun Devils opened the spring with a victory at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge (the Bruins finished in third place 19 strokes back).
Rounding out the top–five are Southern California (No. 3), Oklahoma State (T–4) and Virginia (T–4).
Auburn (No. 7) cracked the top–10, after being ranked 11th in the previous coaches’ poll. San Jose State (No. 25) moved into the top–25.
