Golf World Announces Results of Second Women’s College Coaches’ Poll of the Spring Season
UCLA Reclaims Top Spot in D-I Poll
NEW YORK, NY—The second Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II and III, can be viewed online now. The polls will also appear in the March 30 issue of Golf World.
UCLA took back the No. 1 ranking from Arizona State (No. 2), earning 17 of the 25 first–place votes, after they beat the Sun Devils at the UCF Challenge. It was UCLA’s fifth tournament title in seven starts this season. Their Pac–10 rival, Southern California, stayed in the No. 3 spot. These three schools, all from the same conference, have held the top three spots since late September.
Virginia (No. 4) and Oklahoma State (No. 5) round out the top–five.
LSU (No. 10) cracked the top–10, after being ranked 11th in the previous coaches’ poll. The Tigers have had two top–three finishes this fall, including a third–place showing most recently at the LSU Golf Classic.
Florida (No. 25) moved into the top–25. The Gators, defending SEC champions, had been out of the top–25 since October.
