October 3, 2007

NEW YORK, NY— Golf World has announced its “College Players of the Week” for the period between September 24 and September 30. The feature will appear in the October 5 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now.

This week’s honorees are sophomore Will Griffin of Texas Tech and senior Dewi Claire Schreefel of Southern California. Griffin birdied his final two holes at Shoal Creek Country Club to post a final–round 70 and grab a share of the individual title at the Shoal Creek Invitational. While carding a three–under 213, Griffin helped the Red Raiders earn the team title. It was his second top–10 finish of the season.

Schreefel shot rounds of 68–69–67 to earn medalist honors by four strokes over Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst at the Margaret Branch NCAA Preview. It was the first time in her career that she had three straight sub–70 rounds, and her 15–under 204 was one shot off the school record.

Golf World’s “College Players of the Week” section highlights a male and female golfer who have demonstrated outstanding individual play during a seven day period.
