April 2, 2009

NEW YORK, NY— Golf World has announced its “College Players of the Week” for the period between March 23 and March 29. The feature will appear in the April 6 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now.

This week’s honorees are junior Nick Geyer of New Mexico and senior Erica Moston of San Jose State. Geyer opened the National Invitational Tournament with a six–under 66 en route to a nine–under 207 win at Omni Tucson National Golf Club. His performance propelled the Lobos to a seven–shot victory over Arizona, their first win in 2 ½ years. This was Geyer’s first collegiate win.

Three straight par or better rounds, including a closing 69, gave Moston the individual title (seven–under 209) at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson and helped the Spartans capture the team title by nine strokes over UNLV. Moston led the tournament with 14 birdies, including two over the final four holes to secure the win. It was the first time since her sophomore year that she has won an individual event.

Golf World’s “College Players of the Week” section highlights a male and a female who have demonstrated outstanding individual play during a seven day period.
