NEW YORK, NY— Golf World has announced its “College Players of the Week” for the period between March 17 and March 23. The feature will appear in the March 28 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now.
This week’s honorees are freshman Ignacio Elvira of Texas A&M and senior Alison Walshe of Arizona. Elvira won the Barona Collegiate Cup by three strokes with a final–round 66 and a total score of 12–under 204. His performance helped the Aggies win the team title by 20 strokes over San Diego State.
Walshe shot a 66 in the opening round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational en route to a final score of three–under 213 and her second victory of the season. She was the only player to finish the tournament under par and will play for the U.S. Curtis Cup team in May.
Golf World’s “College Players of the Week” section highlights a male and a female who have demonstrated outstanding individual play during a seven day period.
