NEW YORK, NY— Golf World has announced its “College Players of the Week” for the period between March 10 and March 16. The feature will appear in the March 21 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now.
This week’s honorees are sophomores George Bryan IV of South Carolina and Alison Whitaker of Duke. Bryan earned his first college title with a final–round 69 and an eight–under 208 at the Schenkel E–Z–Go Invitational. The Gamecocks finished third behind Alabama and Florida.
Whitaker shot a career–low opening round 65 at the UCF Challenge that propelled her to an eight–under 208 and the individual title. The Blue Devils also won the team title by 11 strokes over Purdue. The win was Whitaker’s first of her college career and also earned her an exemption into the LPGA’s Ginn Tribune (May 29–June 1).
Golf World’s “College Players of the Week” section highlights a male and a female who have demonstrated outstanding individual play during a seven day period.
