February 19, 2009

NEW YORK, NY— Golf World has announced its “College Players of the Week” for the period between February 9 and February 15. The feature will appear in the February 23 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now.

This week’s honorees are senior Jorge Campillo of Indiana and junior Juliana Murcia of Arizona State. Campillo, a native of Spain, went 3–0 at the inaugural Big Ten Match Play Championship, defeating Michigan’s Lion Kim, 4 and 2, in the finals to help the Hoosiers top the Wolverines and secure the team title at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. Campillo was also selected as Golf World’s 2008–09 mid–season player of the year.

Murcia shot a one–over 214 at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes (Calif.) Golf Club to win her first collegiate title. The Colombian native’s play also helped ASU win the team title by 18 strokes over Wake Forest.

Golf World’s “College Players of the Week” section highlights a male and a female who have demonstrated outstanding individual play during a seven day period.
